How to

From zero to your first result

What an API and an MCP server are, how to connect Belumind's services to your own software or to an AI assistant, and what you get back. The examples use Virgo, which you can try today.

01 · The basics

What is an API?

An API is a way for one piece of software to ask another for help. Your software sends the work — for example, the text of a contract — and the service sends back the result in a form your software can read and use.

  • You send the work

    Your software sends the contract text to Virgo's web address.

  • You get results back

    Virgo replies with a confirmation that it worked and the clauses it found, ready to show or store.

  • You decide everything

    Your software chooses when to ask, what to send and what to do with the answer. Best when you are building your own app or automating a routine task.

02 · For AI assistants

What is MCP?

MCP is a shared standard that lets an AI assistant — such as Claude or Cursor — use outside services on its own. You connect a service once; after that, the assistant can see what it offers and use it whenever your question needs it. No programming required.

AI assistant

Claude · Cursor · …

  • Virgo MCP

    Flags the contract clauses worth a closer read

    analyze_contract · get_clause · list_risk_types

  • Paginta MCP

    Turns a PDF into an editable Word file, tables intact

    convert_pdf · get_document · list_documents

  • Clausa MCP

    Reads official documents: who issued them, who signed, what they replace

    extract_document_fields · extract_entities · submit_job

1 · The assistant asks each service what it can do

2 · It picks Virgo to review the contract

One service, two ways in. Every Belumind service offers both, so you can start in a chat and build it into your own software later.

03 · Setup

Set it up

Choose the way that suits you — both reach the same service. Connecting an AI assistant takes about a minute.

Connect an AI assistant

Claude Code

Paste this into your terminal and press Enter:

terminal
$ claude mcp add --transport http \ virgo \ https://mcp.belumind.com/virgo \# then open Claude Code and ask, for example:# "Review this contract — what should I ask about?"

Claude Desktop & claude.ai

  1. 1Open Settings → Connectors
  2. 2Choose Add custom connector
  3. 3Name it Virgo and paste https://mcp.belumind.com/virgo
  4. 4Start a new chat — Claude can now use Virgo

Custom connectors are only available on some Claude plans.

Cursor

Open Cursor's settings file for MCP (~/.cursor/mcp.json) and add these lines:

mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "virgo": {
      "url": "https://mcp.belumind.com/virgo",
      "headers": {
        "X-API-Key": "bm_live_…",
        "Authorization": "Bearer <access token>"
      }
    }
  }
}

Paginta connects the same way — just use this address instead: https://mcp.belumind.com/paginta/mcp

Build it into your own software

  1. 1Everything goes to Virgo's web address: https://api.belumind.com/virgo
  2. 2Paste the example into a terminal to see it work. A developer can do the same from any programming language.
  3. 3Every call needs two things: an API key for the product, made in the dashboard under API keys, and your access token from signing in, which lasts 15 minutes.
curl
curl -X POST \
  https://api.belumind.com/virgo/v1/analyze/text \
  -H "X-API-Key: bm_live_…" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <access token>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "text": "Điều 3. Công ty có quyền đơn phương chấm dứt hợp đồng bất cứ lúc nào mà không cần báo trước."
  }'

04 · In practice

Use it

Once your assistant is connected, just ask in your own words. Here is what happens behind the scenes.

The same thing from your own software

One question, one answer. Each clause in the answer is marked by how closely to read it: “doc_ky” means read carefully, “xem_xet” means worth a look.

Good to know

  • Sending too much at once? The service will ask you to wait — pause for the time it gives, then try again.
  • Long PDFs can take a minute. Send each file once and keep the result; sending the same file again gets an instant answer.
  • Results are suggestions, not legal advice — use them to decide what to read first.
